Parque Los Haitises is one of the ecological attractions of the Dominican Republic. Los Haitises National Park is located to the northeast of the country, is located south of the Bay of Samaná, from Sánchez to Sabana de la Mar. The landscape, dotted with small islands, with wooded hills is a contrast with the rest of the country. The park is a protected area with a large mangrove, with a marine part with the bay of San Lorenzo and a terrestrial part is composed of a subtropical forest with many small hills. In this park there are also numerous caves (La Línea, Cueva Arena ...) with pictographs and petroglyphs left by the Tainos, the first inhabitants of the island of Hispaniola. The park Los Haitises is a reserve and sanctuary for many species of birds, fish, seafood ... some of which are endemic to the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean.
